International databases

  • LILACS
    Latin American and Caribbean Literature on the Health Sciences is a BIREME System's cooperative database which covers literature related to the health sciences and has been published in countries of the Region since 1982. It contains articles from about 670 of the most well-known journals in the medicine field, reaching approximately more than 150,000 records and other documents, such as: theses, chapters of theses, books, chapters of books, congress and conference proceedings, technical and scientific reports and governmental publications.
  • MEDLINE - International Database for Medical Literature
    Database on international literature, produced by the National Library of Medicine - NLM, which gathers bibliographic references and summaries of more than 4000 biomedical journals published in the United States and in other 70 countries. There are approximately 11 million records on biomedical literature since 1966 which cover medicine, nursing, odontology, veterinary and preclinical sciences. Updating is done on a monthly basis. MEDLINE is divided into sections by date.
  • PUBMED
    National Libray of Medicine Portal that includes approximately 17 million bibliographical references from Medline and other data bases and journals of health sciences. It includes links to the full text articles and related sources.
  • PDQ
    Physician Data Query, PDQ® es una base de datos que contiene información acerca de la prevención, detección y tratamiento del cáncer. PDQ incluye también información sobre genética, cuidados médicos de apoyo, medicina complementaria y alternativa. Es un servicio del Instituto Nacional del Cáncer para personas con cáncer y sus familias, para médicos, personal de enfermería y otros profesionales médicos.
  • LEYES - Latin American and Caribbean Basic Health Legislation
    LEYES - Latin American and Caribbean Basic Health Legislation 13/09/2005The information contained in the LEYES data base was extracted mostly from the registers of the 'Index to Latin American Lagislation' maintained by the Hispanic Law Division of the Library of Congress of the United States of America, with the exception of constitutional provision and health codes.
  • BDENF - Nursing Database
    BDENF is an information source composed of bibliographic references from the Brazilian technical and scientific literature in the Nursing are. Its operation, maintenance and update is coordinated by the UFMG's Nursing School and VHL NURSING Network Cooperating Centers. It contains articles from the most relevant journals in the Nursing area, and other documents such as: theses, books, chapters of books, annals of congresses or conferences, technical and scientific reports and governmental publications.

    Proporciona una colección clínica y biomédica de 770 títulos de revistas a texto completo. La base de datos incluye todas las cartas, diagramas, gráficos, tablas, fotos, y otros elementos gráficos esenciales para la investigación médica. Los títulos de revistas cubren todas las disciplinas clínicas y del atención a la salud importantes, incluyendo enfermedades cardiovasculares, pediatría, neurología, enfermedades respiratorias, odontología, anestesiología, y otros. Incluye títulos como: The New England Journal of Medicine, The Lancet, Journal of the National Cancer Institute, Journal of Clinical Investigation, American Journal of Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine, The American Journal of Psychiatry, Diabetes, Canadian Medical Association Journal (CMAJ), Rheumatology, American Journal of Public Health, etc.

    SciELO SciELO - Scientific Electronic Library Online is a model for cooperative electronic publishing of scientific journals on the Internet. Especially conceived to meet the scientific communication needs of developing countries, particularly Latin America and the Caribbean countries, it provides an efficient way to assure universal visibility and accessibility to their scientific literature, contributing to overcome the phenomena known as 'lost science'. In addition, the SciELO model comprises integrated procedures for the measurement of usage and impact of scientific journals.
